Laramie County’s 2nd Coronavirus-Related Death Confirmed

CHEYENNE (5/18/20) – On Monday, the Cheyenne Laramie County Health Department was informed of the death of a Wyoming resident residing in a Colorado long term care facility. This brings the total COVID-19 related deaths in Laramie County to two. There are currently 120 documented positive cases of COVID-19 in Cheyenne as of Monday, May 18th and an additional 62 probable positive cases, which means they have had close contact with a positive individual and are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.

At this time, 95 patients who were lab confirmed positive tests and 43 probable positive patients have recovered. Laramie County has 43 patients still considered as active cases. In addition to the new cases, more than 307 individuals who have had contact with positive patients have been placed into quarantine to monitor for possible symptoms.

Due to the community transmission, CDC continues to recommend social distancing, covering sneezes and coughs, frequent handwashing and staying home when sick, and wearing a face covering when in public places.

“As restrictions continue to loosen across the county it is even more important to wear face coverings when you can’t maintain a distance of six feet or more in public,” stated Dr. Stan Hartman, County Health Officer.
