Cheyenne City Council OK's 3% employee raise, sends police contract to committee (capcity.news) — Cheyenne city employees are set to receive a 3% cost-of-living raise starting Jan. 1, 2026, after the City Council’s unanimous vote this week. Councilors also advanced a new police employment contract to committee, approved major restoration work at the High Plains Arboretum, and funded key drainage, road, and crack-seal projects that will affect city infrastructure.

2. Cheyenne Foundation Purchases Outlaw Saloon, Will Turn It Into Rec Center (cowboystatedaily.com) — A longtime Cheyenne bar, the Outlaw Saloon, has been bought by the Maury and Bonnie Brown Foundation and is slated to become a major new south-side community recreation center with pools, courts, and an indoor walking track. With the YMCA closed and residents seeking more indoor options, organizers say the project could boost quality of life and help Cheyenne retain young families and attract businesses.
   

3. Make-A-Wish Wyoming to benefit from January charity Calcutta (capcity.news) — Cheyenne’s City Council highlighted a January 30–31, 2026 Calcutta at the Red Lion that will raise funds for Make-A-Wish Wyoming, keeping some proceeds local for a good cause. Council members also praised recent Civic Center performances, encouraged residents to enjoy free concerts there, and noted that Cheyenne Frontier Days tickets go on sale this week.
   

4. CWD detected in Sheridan Region's Elk Hunt Area 2 (oilcity.news) — From Cheyenne, state wildlife officials report chronic wasting disease has been detected for the first time in Elk Hunt Area 2 in the Sheridan Region, affecting elk, deer and moose. Hunters are urged to submit samples for free CWD testing and to report any animals that appear sick, as Game and Fish monitors the disease and considers future management steps.
   

5. Wyoming Cowboys Take Center Stage At National Finals Rodeo In Las Vegas (cowboystatedaily.com) — Cheyenne gets a proud shout-out as hometown cowboy Brody Cress rides into the National Finals Rodeo after winning his fourth buckle at Cheyenne Frontier Days. Alongside fellow Team Wyoming rider Brody Wells and veteran bullfighter Dusty Tuckness, he’s helping showcase Wyoming’s official state sport on one of rodeo’s biggest stages in Las Vegas this week.
