Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- A Birmingham man's death on Thursday morning is being investigated as a homicide. According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, Courtney Desmond Mays, 41, died from gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the assault on 25th Avenue North. (Trussvilletribune)
- A Birmingham woman's car was stolen and used in a high-speed chase with the Birmingham Police Department. The woman's vehicle was stolen while she was eating lunch at Chef Lee's Peking Restaurant in Columbus. Luckily, the vehicle will be repaired and was not totaled. (WBRC)
- A mural detailing the sacrifice and courage of the Freedom Riders has been unveiled in Birmingham. The mural is meant to mark the riders' journey's 61st anniversary. The mural was painted at Wells Fargo's Motor Tower Branch's historic Trailways Bus Depot. (Alabama's News Leader)
