Located along the free MAX Orange Line, the facility will add 98 beds, family rooms, health and dental care, pet accommodations, and case management to help unhoused residents move off the streets.

Local experts recommend breaking down boxes, using security cameras, and calling police or Crime Stoppers about suspicious activity so neighborhoods can help prevent more burglaries.

• Birmingham teen turns Christmas tree removal into green business (wbrc.com) — If you’ve got a real Christmas tree to ditch around Birmingham, 17-year-old Christopher Agee is turning your holiday cleanup into a small green business. The Oak Mountain High student hauls trees from local homes and delivers them to Oak Mountain State Park, where they’re reused for wildlife habitats and fish, with pickups running through January 5.
