Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. The City of Birmingham has partnered with the Alabama Department of Transportation to shoulder the cost of an interstate lighting improvement program. $3.5 million will be split between Birmingham and ALDOT to complete the project. Birmingham will supply $1.6 million while ALDOT will cover the remaining costs. (Alabama's News Leader)
  2. A 50-year-old Birmingham man has been identified after a shooting and car crash. The event which took place on May 23 claimed the life of David Gibbs Westbrook Jr., a Birmingham resident. The shooting took place just before 11:00 p.m. on Monday near 135 54th Street North, where Mr. Westbrook was found in the driver's seat of an SUV which crashed into a utility pole. (AL.com)
  3. Tuesday's primary election results are in for Shelby County. 280 Living has compiled the results of all Shelby County-related races. The winners of the primary races will go on to the ballot in November's general election.
