Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:
- Yesterday, Apr. 27, marked 11 years since an EF4 tornado barrelled into Birmingham after leveling Tuscaloosa. The tornado, which was just one of 62 to hit Alabama during a historic super outbreak on that day in 2011, claimed 240 lives in the state and caused more than $2 billion in property damage. - We have an update on yesterday's story regarding a gunshot victim who wrecked his car in the front yard of a home on Monday. Authorities have identified the victim as 19-year-old Jomorion Gordon of Birmingham. The victim was believed to have been shot at another location and attempted to drive to the hospital, according to the preliminary investigation. (AL.com)
- Today, Apr. 28, the Birmingham Public Library will be celebrating International Jazz Day. The library will host a free event today from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the central library, which will include live music, food trucks, and more. Attendees are recommended to bring their own lawn chairs.
