Birmingham Hospital Ranked Among The Best In U.S.: Newsweek

The rankings for 2021 include more than 300 hospitals in the United States.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — In its annual hospital rankings, Newsweek has UAB Hospital ranked among the 50 best in the country.

The magazine’s “World’s Best Hospitals” list for 2021 ranked the top hospitals around the world, including in the United States. It’s the third year Newsweek has published the list, for which it partnered with the data firm Statista.

UAB Hospital ranked 46th among the 334 hospitals ranked in the report. UAB received a score of 71.25 percent.

In its methodology, Newsweek explained that it looked at three data sources to compile the rankings: recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys and medical KPIs on hospitals.

Hospitals in the U.S. were also recognized for infection prevention if they performed above the national average based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

UAB was named among those that performed "above average" for infection prevention.
