Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- Looking for work? The Birmingham City Schools System is hiring. There will be a hiring fair this weekend, beginning with a meet and greet at The Pixel Room Selfie Museum on Friday evening. Job-seekers are then invited to Carver High School on Saturday at noon. Positions range from teachers and therapists to cafeteria workers and office personnel. (Alabama's News Leader)
- Former President Trump's planned Jun. 18 rally in Birmingham has been canceled. The American Freedom Tour reported that the event was canceled for "unforeseen circumstances." Reportedly, a new rally has been set for Jul. 9 in Mobile. A spokesperson for the mayor of Mobile said the city has not been contacted by organizers and has no information about an upcoming event. - Birmingham PD is investigating a burning body that was found yesterday morning. A report of smoke near Wylam led the police to find the victim, who was pronounced dead after firefighters extinguished the fire. The victim's identity has not been released. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward or call CrimeStoppers. (Trussvilletribune)
