Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- An out-of-control car crashed into a group of people in Birmingham after 'exhibition driving.' Multiple people were standing outside of the Airport Lounge early Friday morning when a red Camaro struck the victims on 50th Street North, according to police. At least five victims were taken to the hospital; one person has life-threatening injuries. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- As of Friday afternoon, the Birmingham Police Department is asking for help finding a missing man. A critical missing person alert was issued for 26-year-old Gregory Williams, who is autistic and can't speak. Williams was last seen in the 4500 block of 74th Place North in Birmingham and is described as 6' tall and weighing 280 pounds. (Alabama's News Leader)
- Almost 400 cars have been stolen in Birmingham so far this year, up three percent from this time last year. According to police, 395 car thefts have taken place in the city in 2022, as it becomes more prevalent across the county. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Sgt. Joni Money advises drivers to park in well-lit areas and in a garage or driveway, when possible. (WBRC)
