Family Dispute Leads To Deadly Jefferson County Shooting

A man is dead after a family dispute escalated into gunfire in west Jefferson County Saturday afternoon.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A man is dead after a dispute escalated into gunfire Saturday afternoon near Dora in west Jefferson County. The incident occurred just after 1 p.m. in the 7000 block of Dolly Drive.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said two male family members got into an argument over money and the fight resulted in one of the men shooting the other. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, Money said.

Money said Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives will continue the investigation and will work with the District Attorney’s Office to determine further action in this case.
