'Get A Roof, Get A Gun,' Alabama Company Offers Free Rifle With New Roof

An Alabama roofing company is offering customers a free assault rifle if they choose to get a new roof using the company's services.

The company, Digital Roofing Innovations, promoted the deal in video posted to Facebook on July 4 and the video has since gotten almost 250,000 views.

"Get a roof-get a gun," the caption on the video says.

Zach Blenkinsopp, co-owner of the company, promotes the offer in the video. Dressed only in blue shorts, a large red bow around his neck, a red and white hat and colorful socks, Blenkinsopp says anyone who chooses to get a new roof from his company will get a free assault rifle.

"You know, Donald Trump says "Make America Great Again," I say make America gun again, MAGA," Blenkinsopp says in the video.

Local news channel WIAT-TV reports customers who get a voucher for the free rifle would still have to go through the standard background checks that apply to anyone who wants to buy a gun.

Co-owner Chris McGuire told the news channel the company does not have a huge marketing budget at the moment so they thought about what they could do that would be cheap and would go viral. McGuire also clarified that the company was not promoting violence or drinking with firearms.

“You get to choose what you believe in and if people don’t like it then we don’t care, we’re going to continue to do our business and take care of our customers,” Blenkinsopp told WIAT-TV.
