  1. A popular Italian restaurant in Alabama will be closing for renovations next week. Giuseppe’s Cafe, a homey spot located in Birmingham’s Glen Iris neighborhood at 925 Eighth St. South, is closing its doors for building renovations on May 21. At this time, there is no word on how long the restaurant will be closed. (AL.com)
  2. Birmingham City Schools will be launching a new initiative for academic growth and enrichment. The district's Sensational Summer Learning initiative will begin on Jun. 13. Classes will be offered by the district, local schools, and several community partners, ranging from engineering and coding to music, dance, and exercise. (WBRC)
