Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. Alabama is holding multiple events in Montgomery and Birmingham this week to mark Holocaust remembrance. The Alabama Holocaust Commission is sponsoring its annual gathering remembering the victims and survivors of the Holocaust at the Alabama Department of Archives and History. Additionally, a commemoration will be held at Temple Beth-El in Birmingham at 6 p.m. on Thursday. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  2. Birmingham police are warning residents about a disturbing trend of guns being stolen out of vehicles across the city. Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin warns these weapons are ending up in the wrong hands. “We’ve seen things such as robberies that happen, dealing with people that have weapons stolen from them, as well as homicides, so don’t let your weapon end up in the wrong hands,” he said. The sergeant said many times the guns that were stolen out of vehicles were simply unlocked. (WBRC)
  3. There are multiple pets in the Birmingham area in need of a loving home! From cats to rabbits, to dogs, and more, check out the friendly faces of the animals right around the corner. Take a peek at Martin Valentino, a young rabbit who loves attention. (Birmingham Patch)
