- Birmingham Water Works is encouraging the public to stay hydrated this month with a new initiative, which highlights the city's clean drinking water. The new initiative, Hydrate the City, has been visiting places all over Jefferson County — including the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Alabama Farmer Market, and Regions Field — to hand out information and swag. - The city of Birmingham is working on improving bulk trash pick-up. An updated June schedule was tweeted earlier this week by Mayor Randall Woodfin, who apologized for the bulk trash delays. According to Birmingham city council member Crystal Smitherman, the council recently approved spending $600 thousand on more advanced trucks which should cut injuries and delays down. (WBRC)
- The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place on Tuesday in the 1600 block of Avenue J. According to police, they received a Shot Spotter report of 26 rounds fired just before 6:00 p.m. and found a man in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds.
