Making Birmingham Move: Jason Davidson Launches New Venture
Teacher, artist, musician and entrepreneur Jason Davidson has launched a new business venture in Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Meeting a true Renaissance man is a rare occasion, but that is exactly what Birmingham's Jason Davidson is. An art teacher at Birmingham's Phillips Academy by trade, Davidson has been a fixture in the Birmingham arts and music community.
In addition to his teaching gig, Davidson is also an accomplished artist, one of the founders of internet radio station Vulcanite Radio, a comic book enthusiast and as his stage name "Complet," has been part of the critically acclaimed Birmingham hip-hop group The Green Seed.
If all of that wasn't enough, Davidson can add entrepreneur to his list of talents. He recently launched a new business venture, D.R. Graphix, an apparel company based in Birmingham specializing in clothing and accessories that "speak to millennials, generation x,y and z'ers about a new way of thinking."

Give me a little rundown on what DR Graphix offers.
D.R. Graphix offers a unique brand of apparel to a diverse demographic. It is a place that will support multiple clothing collections, each with their own voice. We want to grow enough to provide a quality and more affordable option for apparel than some of the other, more expensive brands.
What made you decide to do this?
I’ve wanted to do a clothing line since I was in middle school. I love comic books, hip hop, cartoons and movies so I was inspired by the uniforms, costumes and outfits I tried to draw. Also, while COVID has exposed so many weaknesses in our institutions/systems, its also forced people to think differently about how they do business. I decided to do this because a long time passion project and opportunity finally came together at the right time.
You are a teacher, a musician, a radio host, and artist... what keeps you inspired to take on all of these different projects?
People inspire me. My parents taught me the value of getting to know people and the impact I can have just by speaking. As an artist, I’m inspired to speak to people through my art. The evolution of technology has given us the opportunity to speak on multiple platforms. I’m going to use every platform I have to share my voice and my vision.
How can people find D.R. Graphix?
People can find DR Graphix on Twitter (@DRGraphix2), IG (@drgraphix2020), and FB. The link for our store is on the profile in each of our social media pages.
Where do you hope this new venture leads? What are your goals?
I have a long term vision of things I want to accomplish. Hopefully this venture will provide the capital I need to move into other areas. I want to create opportunities for others in Birmingham and beyond. I have ideas that can move institutions forward, but every vision has to start somewhere. Our country is in a delicate phase right now and a vision is needed to move forward the right way. I want to make an impact on this city and the world before I’m gone.
