  1. On Thursday, multiple organizations held a giveaway to give back to moms in Birmingham. Cars lined up outside the Five Points West Mobile Gas Station on Bessemer Road for the Serving Mothers at the Station event, in which the first 200 moms got free gas. The event also included gift cards for oil changes and car washes, free food, gift bags, Bibles, voter registration, and music. The giveaway was made possible by Jefferson County Commissioner Sheila Tyson, who partnered with More than Conquerors Faith Church, Virtue Inc., Birmingham Urban League, and Black Women’s Roundtable. (WBRC)
  2. A local nonprofit is setting up food pantries in The Magic City. The nonprofit, Margins: Women Helping Women, is located on English Knoll Road in the city’s West End neighborhood and Valley Brook Road in Birmingham. They are providing meals to those in need, even when food banks are closed. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
  3. A water main break closed a Birmingham road on Friday. The break happened at the corner of 4th Ave. South across from Wells Fargo bank, forcing Birmingham Water Works crews to cut the bus pad to access the water line for repair. As of Friday evening, the lane is closed until further notice while City of Birmingham crews assess the damage. (WBRC)
