Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  2. Two Birmingham physicians are bracing themselves now that a law that makes some of their work a crime has gone into effect. Dr. Hussein Abdul-Latif and Dr. Morissa Ladinsky, who run a clinic to treat children with gender dysphoria, care for over 150 young people who are transgender or gender diverse. On Sunday, a new law took effect which makes it a felony for medical providers to give puberty blockers and hormones to treat trans people under the age of 19. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  3. On Sunday night, Birmingham police shot a man in the leg after receiving a call about a domestic violence incident. According to Acting Police Chief Scott Thurmond, the man was shot by a Birmingham police officer on the 2500 block of 7th Ave South after refusing to put down his weapon. The man was taken to a local hospital for his non-life-threatening injury. No officers were injured. (AL.com)
