Officers recovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, cash, and a firearm, and authorities note he was already on federal supervised release for prior drug convictions.

Jimmie Hale Mission reopening warming station Jan. 11-12 (cbs42.com) — Birmingham residents facing freezing temperatures can access an overnight warming station at Jimmie Hale Mission on Sunday and Monday nights, with free meals included. Doors open at 6 p.m., with shuttles from Linn Park and access via the Metro orange line to Sloss Furnaces, plus return transportation each morning.

UAB working to expand access to pre-hospital blood transfusions (wbrc.com) — UAB in Birmingham is leading a new effort to expand access to life‑saving pre-hospital blood transfusions across eight Alabama counties, especially for rural crash victims. Backed by a federal NHTSA grant, doctors will map where blood is most needed and design a system so more ambulances can carry and administer blood before patients ever reach the ER.
