Sheriff's Office Searching For Hit And Run Suspect

A 50-year-old man was killed Saturday night in Jefferson County when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in finding the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed 50-year-old Joshua Scott II Saturday night. Scott was found dead in the 5000 block of 5th Street near Lipscomb just before 9 p.m.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the vehicle involved is believed to be a 2002-2004 model Nissan Maxima. The vehicle will have damage to the front right side and possibly a broken windshield or side glass, she said.

"Investigators are currently processing some evidence found at the scene and are enhancing video of the suspect vehicle," Money said. "We are hoping that the person involved will come forward and explain what happened that night."
