- A new plan in Birmingham to improve litter and trash conditions could also help prevent street flooding, according to city leaders. The city council recently approved spending seven million dollars to improve the city's trash pick-up routine, including new cans for residents and new public works trucks. Some of Birmingham's flooding issues have been caused by litter in the streets, which clogs the city's inlets. (WBRC)
- You won't want to miss this year's Magic City Art Connection, scheduled for Apr. 22 to 24 at Sloss Furnaces! The three-day contemporary arts festival, celebrating its 39th anniversary, brings art, culture, creativity, and more to Birmingham. - A Birmingham resident charged with attempted murder has died by suicide, according to authorities. Birmingham police, accompanied by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, went to Extended Stay America Suites on Thursday morning to find 39-year-old Alonzo Burrell. After trying to communicate with the suspect, officers found Burrell dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. (AL.com)
