Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

1. The inaugural USFL season kicks off tonight. The eight-team pro football league begins with a showdown between the Birmingham Stallions and the New Jersey Generals at Protective Stadium in Birmingham. Tickets are $10 and the game will be televised nationally. (AL.com)
2. A woman from Birmingham is wanted in relation to a robbery in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. The police say that she threatened someone at gunpoint and robbed them of their belongings. Police are asking anyone with information on the woman's whereabouts to come forward. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
3. A Birmingham man is dead following a crash near Douglas this past Monday. John Harris Fisher, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver involved was injured and taken to a hospital close by. The crash occurred on Alabama 75 near Irvin Road. (Sand Mountain Reporter)
