  1. The Alabama High School Athletic Association football playoffs will begin this week. During Week One, there will be five key games going on in the Birmingham area. Hoover will compete against Bob Jones at the Austin Football Field in Decatur on Friday. The complete schedule of games is available at the link. (AL.com)
  2. Hoover has been named as one of the top ten districts for learning gains for Black students, according to an official report. Black students from Hoover and other Alabama districts had the best learning gains in math. Meanwhile, Hoover ranked in the top three districts for learning gains among Hispanic students.
