Arrest Made In Fatal Galleria Shooting: Police

The Wednesday shooting left 20-year-old UAB student Zachariah Music dead.

HOOVER, AL — An arrest has been made in the fatal Wednesday shooting at Riverchase Galleria, Hoover Police Lieutenant Keith Czeskleba confirmed.

The shooting left 20-year-old University of Alabama, Birmingham student Zachariah Taylor Music dead. Police responded to the shooting on the fifth level of the North Parking Deck at the Riverchase Galleria around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police found Music sitting in a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 1:39 p.m.

On Saturday, police announced that they have charged Michael Jabari Akamune, 20, of Birmingham with murder. The accused's bond is set at $60,000. Police said Akamune is currently in the Hoover City Jail and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail later on Saturday.

A fundraiser has been started to help Music's family raise money for funeral expenses. As of Saturday, the fundraiser is just short of its $5,000 goal.

Police have said they believe that the shooting was not random.
