Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:
- Hoover residents are invited to attend a Boarding School Fair in Birmingham next week. On Tuesday, Sep. 20, Highlands School will host 19 boarding schools from across the country at their annual fair. The event will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Highlands School campus, located at 4901 Old Leeds Road in Birmingham. Click the link to see all the schools in attendance. (Hoover Sun)
- The annual Taste of Hoover event is returning this October. The autumn event is one of many taking place in the area next month and will feature delicious dishes from some of Hoover’s best restaurants and caterers, along with a menu of distilled spirits and international wines. Taste of Hoover will take place on Oct. 6 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Aldridge Gardens, located at 3530 Lorna Rd. Tickets are available now. (Bham Now)
- A nonprofit recognized a Gwin Elementary School counselor as Hoover’s “queen of kindness." On Tuesday night, The Hoover Helps nonprofit recognized counselor Wendy Sizemore for helping meet the needs of children in her school. In a report to the Hoover school board on Tuesday night, cofounder Greg Bishop said Sizemore identified the needs of 513 students that the Hoover Helps Neighborhood Bridges program was able to meet with donations valued at $2,670.
