Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:

  1. Over the weekend, the City of Hoover held a ceremony and stair climb event in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terror attacks. The event began Saturday morning at the Riverside Galleria Food Court atrium with the remembrance ceremony, which included the ringing of a bell in memory of the fallen. Afterward, participants climbed 110 floors at the Galleria Office Tower, representing the 110 floors at the World Trade Center. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  2. A couple who recently moved from Reno to Hoover reported losing over a third of their belongings after hiring a nationwide moving company. Madelyn and Edward Kramer said after waiting over two months for their belongings to arrive from True American Van Lines, the delivery was missing 12 boxes valued at $30,000. A dispatch manager for True American said in a phone interview "we're not a bad company, things sometimes happen, and every company has a claims process and arbitration." (Alabama's News Leader)
  3. The 103rd season of the NFL, which kicked off on Sunday, will include 170 players with Alabama roots – three hailing from Hoover. Two locals are on the Baltimore Ravens' roster: cornerback Marlon Humphrey (on reserve/injured) and outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon (practice squad). The Pittsburgh Steelers also recently picked up wide receiver George Pickens in the 2022 draft. Visit the link to view the full NFL roster. (AL.com)
