- The City of Hoover experienced multiple payroll issues during a recent transition to a new payroll system. City employees have reported experiencing paycheck issues since July. The city is working with a third-party vendor to fix the issues. The new system is through Tyler Technologies. (1819 News)
- A Hoover brother and sister have won the 2022 Outstanding Gifted Students award. The award is meant to honor students that exhibit excellence in leadership and intelligence. Sara Roy, a ninth grader at Hoover High School, and her brother Alex Roy, a seventh grader at Simmons Middle School, are involved in multiple school clubs while running Soap'd, a small business that sells different soaps. - Another inmate has been found dead at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in western Jefferson County. The inmate has been identified as Antoine Devaugh Rudolph, 33 years old. He was found in his private cell on Thursday and was pronounced dead at 10:05 a.m. There have been 36 inmates found dead at the facility this year. In 2021, there were 26 deaths. (AL.com)
