Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:

1. Birmingham-Southern College down the road in Birmingham is requesting state funding to avoid closing the college. The college requested $30 million in state funding. (Alabama's News Leader)
2. There are eight days left before stores close for Christmas, and shoppers report busy holiday shopping crowds at the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover. Like many other stores, Riverchase Gallery plans to close at 6:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve for the holiday. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
3. Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead down the road in Birmingham on Sunday morning. Authorities reported that there are no suspects currently in custody. (Al.com)
