Federal Grant Money To Support Alabama First Responders

Pelham tactical gear company supplies Shelby County Sheriff's Office with first responder kits paid for by FEMA grant.

PELHAM, AL— Alabama will receive $1.5 million awarded by the FEMA State Homeland Security Grant Program, according to a press conference given by Gov. Kay Ivey, Monday, Nov. 20. This grant money will be distributed throughout the state to over 40 first responder groups by ALEA (State of Alabama Law Enforcement Agency). Shelby County Sheriff’s Office applied for and received funds that allowed for the purchase of 150 first aid trauma kits for mass injuries.

Blaze Defense Systems, located at 3025 Wilson Street, in Pelham supplied the equipment. According to Blaze Defense Systems’ website, this type of first aid trauma kit has a retail value of $135. Having access to these kits will help law enforcement to provide immediate medical aid if the situation should arise.
