- The Hoover City School district superintendent Dee Fowler told award-winning Black children’s book author Derrick Barnes he was no longer welcome in the school district due to his "controversial ideas." The National Book Award Finalist and New York Times bestseller is known for featuring historical Black figures and everyday Black children who face challenges in their day-to-day life. As a result, several parents, teachers, and community members rallied against the superintendent's decision and raised money for Barnes – which he was supposed to be paid by the district. (Daily Kos)
- Five new homes have been listed for sale in the Hoover area. Available properties range from a 1,341 square-foot, three-bed, two-bath home for $250,000 to a $545,000 home with four beds, three baths, and 2,541 square feet. Get all the property details at the link. (Hoover Patch)
