Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:

  1. Hoover City Council has determined that the flooding on U.S. 31 is a public safety issue. Council's decision regarding the flooding near Riverchase Village will lead to legal action being taken against the property owners responsible. The flooding is caused by failed infrastructure within the sewer system, according to City Administrator, Allan Rice. (Alabama's News Leader)
  2. About 20 minutes away in Birmingham, a food truck will be hosting a free festival this weekend. The Aww Shucks Fall Festival, hosted by fire-roasted corn food truck Aww Shucks, will take place at Cahaba Brewing from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 24. The event is meant to celebrate the truck's one-year anniversary of setting the Guinness World Record for the most corn husked in one minute. (Hoover Sun)
  3. The chairman of the Sunbelt Golf Corporation, which operates Hoover's Ross Bridge golf course, has provided an update. On Tuesday morning, Sunbelt Golf chairman John Cannon stated that his company filed a property and casualty claim with their insurer — for the herbicide mix-up that has deteriorated 14 of the course's 18 greens — but it was denied. According to Cannon, this "disaster" differs from natural disasters where property damage is covered by insurance. (1819 News)
