Gunman In Custody After Pursuit By Hoover Police
A man seen slashing tires of police cruisers in Hoover reportedly fired at officers.
HOOVER, AL - A gunman is in custody after a long pursuit by Hoover police Sunday night. The series of events began about 7:30 p.m. at the Hoover Operations Center on Lorna Road, when the man was seen slashing tires of police cruisers, and ended just after 2 a.m. when he was taken into custody in the Green Valley neighborhood.
Bradley Hunter Smith, 31, has been charged with attempted murder and criminal mischief.
Officer Brian Hale of the Hoover Police Department said when officers made contact with Smith, he fired at least two shots at them with a handgun, then fled the area on foot. Hoover officers did not return fire, and no one was injured.

A perimeter was set up around Hendrick Automotive, notifications were made to local residents to shelter in place, and the man was eventually apprehended without further incident.
