- On Jan. 26, the City of Hoover will host its first-ever Hoover Innovation Summit. The theme for the summit will be "cybersecurity in changing times." Tech experts, business leaders, and the public are invited to discuss the growth potential of cybersecurity businesses in our city and the critical issues being faced in the digital world. The summit will take place at the Hoover Library Theatre from 8:00 a.m. to noon. (Hoover Sun)
- A Hoover resident's concert photography is on display at Aldridge Gardens. Art Meripolis is a resident of Hoover’s Green Valley community who photographed musicians such as B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, and more in the 1970s and 80s for a variety of Arkansas and Texas newspapers. Now, Meripolis' best work is on display for his first-ever exhibit, which opened on Tuesday. Admission is free and the exhibit is open until Mar. 3. (Hoover Sun)
- This month, the Hoover Police Department earned national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. After over three years of work, the department received the accreditation which indicates that the department meets 180 internationally accepted standards for law enforcement work. Only about five percent of law enforcement have earned this achievement nationally; Hoover is one of just 13 municipal law enforcement agencies in the state to earn the accreditation.
