  1. Get a free tree a the City of Hoover's Arbor Day Celebration today, Feb. 25. The annual event is even bigger this year and will include a raptor display by the Alabama Wildlife Center, Steve Bender "The Grumpy Gardener" as a keynote speaker, vendors with Wild Birds Unlimited, food trucks, and more. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Aldridge Gardens on Lorna Road. (Hoover AL)
  2. New state Rep. Leigh Hulsey, who represents Alabama House District 15, is hosting a town hall meeting at Hoover City Hall on Mar. 1. Hulsey would like suggestions and comments from her constituents and will also answer questions from the public. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Hoover City Hall community room. If you can't attend that town hall, Husley will be at Helena City Hall on Mar. 2 at 6:00 p.m. (Hoover Sun)
  3. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified 39-year-old Roderick D. Henderson as the victim in the fatal rush-hour crash on I-65 in Hoover. Witnesses of the Feb. 22 accident told police Henderson's vehicle hit the center concrete median which caused him to leave the roadway and ultimately hit a tree. The investigation is ongoing.   • Did you know the Hoover PD is "Certified Sensory Inclusive" and officers received training from Kulture City? All department Tahoes are equipped with sensory-inclusive items to be available to those with sensory needs in an emergency situation. (Hoover Police Dept via Twitter)
  • Rayshod Burt, of Spain Park High School, was selected as the 2023 Finley Award senior winner! (Hoover City Schools via Twitter)
  • On Feb. 23, Lashunda Scales cried as she made her case for a three-year deal for Jefferson County to support the Magic City Classic. Unfortunately, Jefferson County commissioners only agreed to the one-year, $500,000 commitment. (WBHM.org)
