Here are the top four stories today in Hoover:

  1. Hoover's status as the top high school football team on the AL.com Power 25 list is still going strong. The Hoover Bucs earned 99 out of a possible 100 votes for first place. The team also finished the regular season with a nine-game winning streak. They will be hosting Bob Jones in the first round of Friday's Class 7A playoffs. (AL.com)
  2. Birmingham is bustling, and new businesses are opening regularly. This list has rounded up nine new Birmingham businesses worth exploring. Some of the new businesses include La Paz Restaurant & Catering, which is opening its third Hoover location, and CLUB4 Fitness. The complete list is available at the link. (Bham Now)
  3. The Hoover City Council has decided that meetings will no longer be available on YouTube. The official YouTube page for the city council previously carried recordings of public meetings, which citizens could view at their convenience. However, all recordings have since been removed from the page. According to a new policy, the city is not obligated to record or livestream meetings anymore; the only requirement is that the meetings are open to the public. (Alabama's News Leader)
  4. If you’re looking to add a fluffy ball of four-legged love and affection to your life, look no further than these Hoover area shelters for a pet to adopt. There are thousands of dogs, cats, and other animals of all ages and sizes without a home across Alabama — and many of them are located right here in Hoover. Visit the link to look at some of the newest pets up for adoption, and see if there's one you want to take home forever. (Hoover Patch)
