Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:
- In a 5-2 vote, the Hoover City Council passed an ordinance to restrict certain short-term rentals in the city. The restrictions include Airbnb and Vrbo rentals less than 30 days in single-family, residential areas. Short-term rentals will still be allowed in apartments, condos, and commercial areas. The new restrictions went into effect immediately on Monday night (Feb. 6). (WBRC)
- Hoover’s 24th Annual Arbor Day Celebration will be at Aldridge Gardens on Saturday, Feb. 25. The festivities help the city retain its "Tree City" status in the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program. Since 1999, the Arbor Day festival has added thousands of trees to the city, and residents can bring home a free tree from the celebration. (ABC News)
