  1. Former American Christian football coach Chris Smelley will take over at Sylacauga High after leaving Hoover as the quarterback coach. Smelley expressed his and his family's excitement to join Sylacauga and recounted his various successes where he's had the opportunity to coach. He noted, "The key to being successful is all about what you believe in and how you carry yourself." (AL.com)
  2. Gov. Kay Ivey has signed an executive order to promote transparency in the state government. Executive Order 734 will make changes to the process of public record requests by requiring all executive-branch agencies to establish a public records page on their website that includes a public records request form and a contact for assistance, establishing improved response times based on the types of public record requests being made, and establishing a uniform fee schedule. Agencies will be required to implement these changes on or before Apr. 26. (WBRC.com)
