Hoover police received tips from the public that helped identify a felony theft suspect.

HOOVER, AL — The Hoover Police Department sought the public's assistance in identifying a man they say stole merchandise from Home Depot July 9. Police posted security photos of the man on social media Wednesday, and Friday announced the man has been identified.

Hoover police said the items stolen — an air conditioning unit and a Sawzall — are valued at more than $1,000.

"The suspect got into a gray Toyota Tacoma (unknown tag) and fled the scene," Hoover police said in a statement. "It is possible that this person has ties to the Walker County area."
