- Residents of a neighborhood in Hoover have grown increasingly frustrated with a persistent sewer leak that has plagued them for nearly a year, with no assistance from the city. The Cambrian Wood residents have experienced the unpleasant smell and inconvenience caused by the leak, with sewage spewing out from a manhole cover near their homes. Despite their repeated attempts to seek help from the city, the residents feel ignored and believe that the officials are neglecting their responsibility to address the issue. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- Hoover City Schools Superintendent Dee Fowler announced his retirement, effective Oct. 1, during the Board of Education's monthly meeting on Tuesday. After leading the district since 2021, Fowler expressed excitement about settling down in Fairhope, where he and his wife built a house and plan to spend time with their family, including their son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Following the announcement, the board voted to publicly post the vacancy of the superintendent position and entrusted the Birmingham law firm Bishop Colvin to lead the search for the next superintendent of Hoover City Schools. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 14. (AL.com)
