1. The Hoover Tactical Firearms building has been purchased by a Birmingham-based real estate firm. Sanders Capital Partners acquired the building for $3.225 million. The 51,960-square-foot building is located on Montgomery Highway. Sanders Capital Partners' portfolio includes medical, land, light industrial, and retail properties. (AL.com)
2. Robert Findlay Smith, 70 years old, is actively fighting a court-ordered mental evaluation that was requested by prosecutors. Smith is facing capital murder charges for shooting Jane Pounds of Hoover, Walter “Bart” Rainey of Irondale, and Sarah Yeager of Pelham during a church potluck dinner. His defense claims that insanity defense documents were previously submitted by mistake. He is being held without bond. (ABC News)
