- A 17-year-old resident of Hoover has been arrested and charged as an adult for an armed robbery that occurred during a social media-arranged sale. The victim had arranged to meet the teenager on Log Trail Drive to sell an undisclosed item, but instead, the suspect robbed them at gunpoint. Although the teenager has been apprehended and is being held without bond, the police are still working to identify a second suspect believed to be involved, described as a young Black female. The authorities urge the public to exercise caution during online transactions, suggesting meeting in well-lit public areas, avoiding nighttime meetings, and preferably meeting with others for added safety. - According to Hoover’s Assistant City Engineer Blake Miller, construction for a new interchange on Interstate 459 in Hoover is scheduled to begin in 2025 and be completed in 2027. The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and delays, particularly at Exit 10, which is currently overloaded. The interchange will include entrance and exit ramps, an extension of Ross Bridge Parkway, auxiliary lanes, ramp bridges, and a sidewalk. The estimated cost of the project is $120 million, with the city of Hoover and ALDOT sharing the expenses. (Village Living)
- The Birmingham Metro area will soon be welcoming Kyuramen, a popular Japanese ramen restaurant with over 100 locations worldwide. The restaurant's first Alabama branch will be located at Inverness Corners, where Newk's used to be, and is set to open in 2024. Kyuramen boasts an extensive menu of fresh and aromatic soup bases, featuring ingredients like Japanese-style pork roast, boiled eggs, and green onions, including their flavorful Sapporo Miso Ramen.
