With a rate of 1.9 percent, the city is tied with Alabaster and trails closely behind Homewood, Trussville, and Vestavia Hills. 2. The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation will host its 13th annual Head Over Teal 5K & 10K race next Saturday, Sep. 24. The price of registration includes a free tee shirt, and all proceeds from the race will go to support early detection research, awareness education, and support services for cancer patients and families. The races begin at 8:00 a.m. at The Preserve and will be followed by fall-themed family fun activities, food, and beverages. (Head Over Teal)
  3. The Hoover Police Department issued a warning to residents about an ongoing scam circulating in several local Facebook groups. The scammers share a post claiming a lost Saint Bernard was found wandering the streets of Hoover, then ask people to give money to help re-home the dog before disappearing with the money. The same scam has been circulating in other cities and states, reaching at least as far as LaFayette, Georgia. (Hoover AL Police Department via Facebook)
