- Hoover High School's boy's basketball fell to Vestavia Hills on Tuesday evening. In a battle between Alabama's top Class 7A teams, Vestavia Hills shut down Hoover's 17-game winning streak of 56-48. The Hoover girls beat Vestavia earlier that evening, 49-45. (AL.com)
- Hunter Street Baptist Church welcomed a new worship arts minister. Brad Jett, previously the worship pastor at a West Monroe, Louisiana church, has taken over the position at the Hoover church. Jett has a bachelor's degree in music education and a master's degree in church music. (The Alabama Baptist)
- According to the U.S. Adaptive Golf Alliance, Hoover native Alex Fourie is the No. 1 one-arm golfer in the county. The level one PGA golf instructor has raised almost $60,000 through his charity, Single Hand Golf, by selling t-shirts and holding fundraisers with proceeds going to orphanages in Ukraine last year. Fourie's dedication has helped 350 orphans move out of Ukraine. Fourie said, "It’s been a privilege for me to be able to help." (Over the Mountain Journal)
