Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:

1. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the man that was stabbed to death at William Donaldson Correctional Facility on Monday. Joseph Agee III was serving a life sentence for murder when he was stabbed with a "sharp instrument" by another inmate. Agee's death is being investigated as a homicide. His death is the second fatal stabbing that has occurred at the facility in just days. (AL.com)
2. Southeast police departments have been heavily recruiting officers from the Hoover area. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Gwinnett County, Georgia has been recruiting from the county on a few different occasions. The department states it is also working to retain current officers. (WBRC.com)
3. An effort to open the Jefferson County Courthouse for Saturday absentee voting has been denied. The Jefferson County Commission defeated the proposal through a 3-2 roll call vote on Tuesday. Commissioners that voted against the proposal claim that the 2020 approval was given under “special circumstances.” (WBHM)
