- The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the man that was stabbed to death at William Donaldson Correctional Facility on Monday. Joseph Agee III was serving a life sentence for murder when he was stabbed with a "sharp instrument" by another inmate. Agee's death is being investigated as a homicide. His death is the second fatal stabbing that has occurred at the facility in just days. (AL.com)
- Southeast police departments have been heavily recruiting officers from the Hoover area. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Gwinnett County, Georgia has been recruiting from the county on a few different occasions. The department states it is also working to retain current officers. (WBRC.com)
- An effort to open the Jefferson County Courthouse for Saturday absentee voting has been denied. The Jefferson County Commission defeated the proposal through a 3-2 roll call vote on Tuesday. Commissioners that voted against the proposal claim that the 2020 approval was given under “special circumstances.” (WBHM)
