Jefferson County Man Arrested On Weapons Charges

A Graysville man was arrested in Hoover and charged with illegal possession of a machine gun.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Jefferson County man was arrested in Hoover and charged with illegal possession of a machine gun. Federal agents apprehended 46-year-old Shannon Ray Bittle of Graysville Feb. 16.

According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 20 Bittle met an undercover agent in a Walmart parking lot where he possessed and transferred a machine gun — an Anderson Manufacturing AM-15, chambered in .300 AAC Blackout. The undercover agent purchased the machine gun from Bittle.

The ATF investigated the case along with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittney Plyler is prosecuting the case.
