- Attention job-seekers: there are over 23k job openings in the area right now. According to Indeed.com, many jobs are available, ranging from internships and temporary work to part- and full-time positions such as health advisor associate, behavior teacher assistant, and other roles. - An Alopecia Awareness Walk was held over the weekend in nearby Vestavia Hills. On Sep. 17, more than 100 people were on hand for what is believed to be the first Alopecia Awareness Walk in metro Birmingham. Sandey Greene, founder of Don’t Stare! Just Ask, held the event, which was intended to spread awareness of alopecia and provide support for the people who live with it. (Hoover Sun)
- A City of Hoover employee was honored at Monday night's City Council meeting. Kelley Bradford, who works in the Building Inspections Department, was honored for her 25 years of service to the City. She began her career in September of 1997 as a Senior Clerk and has been assisting citizens of Hoover and contractors working in the City for the past 25 years. Congratulations! - The Hoover Police Department announced that Hoover’s Fall Household Hazardous Waste Day on Sep. 17 was another success! At the event, they collected 14 boxes (206.7 pounds) of medication/drugs and a small amount of ammunition. (Hoover (AL) Police Department via Facebook)
- The Hoover City Council on Monday night declared a stormwater drainage problem near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Lorna Road near the Riverchase Crossings shopping center to be a public safety hazard and public nuisance and directed two property owners to correct the problem.
