  1. Commuters currently relying on Highway 280 should start planning alternative routes now. Tentatively beginning on Feb. 1, Birmingham Water Works will be conducting a major repair project on the highway that's estimated to take 20 days. According to BWW, a 36-inch main infrastructure pipe has leaks in two sections across Highway 280. The leaks are said to be of no danger to those living in the area. (Bham Now)
  2. Late Friday night, a pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 65 North, according to Hoover police. The Hoover 911 center initially received a report of a man walking along the Interstate around 9 p.m., and shortly thereafter received a call that the man had been struck. He was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency services. (ABC 3340)
  3. Down the road, the Birmingham Museum of Art has the perfect night planned to celebrate Valentine's Day. On Friday, Feb. 3, the museum will host its Art After 5 event with the theme Love and Basketball. For those who haven't seen the film or want to watch it again, it will be streaming along with chocolate tastings, specialty drinks, collage-making, and more. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 17, Buchannon was reportedly seen on a Ring camera assaulting a woman and a small dog.   • The Samford String Quartet will perform a free concert on Friday, Jan. 27 at noon on the Hoover Public Library Plaza. Founded in 2011, the quartet not only plays concerts at Samford and throughout the Birmingham area, but has performed all over the United States as well as in England, France, and the Dominican Republic.
