Man Struck By Vehicle While Lying In Roadway

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A man who was lying in the roadway on Shannon Road near Old Highway 150 was struck by a vehicle Monday night. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the office received a call just after 6 p.m. Monday that a man was lying in the road, then minutes later received another call from a driver stating they had struck a person who was lying in the roadway at that same location.

Money said the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is fully cooperating with deputies regarding the investigation.

The victim's name has not been released.
