- Congresswoman Terri Sewell detailed a list of Alabama funding items that were included in the 2023 omnibus funding bill that Congress recently passed. Included in the items is $55 million to the Secret Service's National Computer Forensics Institute in Hoover to expand training opportunities. (Alabama Today)
- The City of Birmingham, down the road from Hoover, was awarded almost $300,000 by the federal government to improve food access in the community. Nearly 70% of the city's residents have limited-to-no access to quality fresh food. (Birmingham Times)
- A 107-year-old business based in nearby Birmingham is set to close its last store down the road in Pelham by the end of January. The owners of Ensley Fairfield Mattress stated that the pandemic, online shopping, and the desire to retire led to their decision. (ABC 3340 News)
