Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:

  1. Hoover High School hosted a pep rally and breakfast to honor its bus drivers. The drivers were greeted with music, cheers, and signs by the school's band. The country is facing a school bus driver shortage and Hoover City Schools has been struggling to fulfill all of its routes. The drivers have been working extra hard to assure that students are able to attend school. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  2. Fundraising efforts to raise support for a skate park at Hoover Metropolitan Complex have been going slowly. According to the individuals raising the funds, it is difficult to get support when the city is not willing to partially fund the project. So far, the project has only $20,000 in fundraising pledges. The project will likely cost between $600,000 and $900,000. (280 Living)
  3. Hoover-based National Association of School Resource Officers reports that "swatting" calls have risen throughout the country. The calls report active shooters at schools in order to elicit a large law enforcement response. The trend has gotten the attention of the FBI in recent months. The National Assocation of School Resource Officers reports that the trend is taxing on law enforcement officers while placing a mental toll on students. (WBRC)
