  1. Jimmie Stephens will be the President of the Jefferson Commission. He was re-elected for the third time on Wednesday by the five-member panel. Commissioners Steve Ammons, Joe Knight, and Sheila Tyson voted for Stephens. Click for the full list of committee assignments. (Birmingham Times)
  2. The Hoover Dance Studio is performing "The Sound of Music" this Saturday. The performance will be at the Dorothy Jemison Day Theater in Birmingham. More than 40 young dancers from the Hoover Dance Studio will be featured in the performance. Click for ticket details. (Hoover Sun)
  3. The Hoover Fire Department has launched its annual toy collection drive. Collected toys will be distributed to children of actively deployed military members. Residents are asked to donate unwrapped toys during the collection drive. Donations can be dropped off at any Hoover fire station. The Hoover Fire Department has been participating in the toy drive for over 20 years. (Hoover Sun)
